Dog owners often seem to be a bit confused when it comes to figuring out what type of flooring to put in their kennel. Should they put anything there, lay cement, put in wooden flooring (not a good idea, incidentally), or buy mats. Well there are many different options for kennel flooring, though as you know if you've spent any time reading this blog, my personal preference is kennel decking. I won't enumerate all the reasons for this, as I already have done so plenty, and if you want to find out why I like it better than other options just read the rest of my posts :-)
If you are setting up big, permanent kennels then concrete flooring is an option of course. But if you do happen to put cement down be prepared to go the extra mile and actually seal it with something too. Cement is porous and urine or any other liquid will soak down into it, causing it to smell after a while.
If you are living in a rented house, or you are fairly certain you will be moving around, you should probably consider buying or building something that you can take along with you, including the kennel and getting some form or portable kennel flooring as well.
