Types of Kennel Flooring

Most of the kennel flooring that you can buy these days is relatively cheap, or at least it is definitely affordable, and well worth the cost, I think, if it gets your dog up off the ground! The cheapest type of flooring you can buy is mesh wire flooring. I don't really like that so much as it does not seem that it would be very comfortable for a dog. I think it is great to use in a temporary pen, for example, but not as more permanent kennel flooring.

Some dog owners like to use it, especially if they are breeding dogs, as it allows any mess to go straight through the mesh and flooring, onto usually a tray that is kept underneath. I suppose if you have a need like that it would be good to have that available.

Rubber tiling or rubber matting can also be bought online fairly cheaply. It is really comfortable for a dog to rest on and pretty easy to clean. If you buy rubber matting, make sure that it does not absorb any moisture though, or you will end up with pretty smelly rubber mats after a while. Also, if you have any little pups they can really worry away at a corner piece and do some big chew damage if you are not careful! I have seen it happen!
